Golf Cart Rental in Costa Rica
6 min read · Updated 2026-10-16
A golf cart is one of the easiest ways to get around Costa Rica's beach towns. It is open-air, easy to park and simple to drive, and it is a better fit than a car for the short hops between your villa, the beach and dinner. But it is not the right vehicle everywhere. Here is where a golf cart makes sense, what it costs, and the rules to know before you book.
Where a golf cart makes sense in Costa Rica
Golf carts work best in compact beach areas where most of what you need is a few kilometres apart — which is why a golf cart rental in Tamarindo works so well. On the Guanacaste coast, that means:
- Tamarindo and Playa Langosta: restaurants, surf, shops and sunsets, all within a short ride.
- Hacienda Pinilla: a large gated community where a cart is the natural way to get around.
- Playa Grande: quieter beaches just north of Tamarindo.
- Flamingo, Potrero and Brasilito: a string of beaches and restaurants close to each other.
- Avellanas and Playa Negra: surf beaches south of Tamarindo.
A golf cart is not the right choice for long road trips, mountain areas or travelling between regions. For those, rent a car, or a side-by-side (UTV) if you want to explore back roads and trails.
